Nabi Purple Polishes

This past week a did a couple of manis but wasn't really liking any of them so I didn't even bother to photograph them so this week I'll have some swatches of polishes I never got around to posting. They're from sometime last year when I still had my natural oval/round shape nails. Anyway todays swatches are two purple glitter polishes from Nabi. The first is a deep wine/plum purple with gold and purple glitter and the second is more of a berry purple with red and silver glitter.

Purple Awesome-ness!!

Hello! Today I have for you all layered purple awesome-ness!!!! I had to adjust the color saturation to get the color of the polish right so thats why my skin color looks off, I hate that sometimes purple polishes come out looking blue when you photograph them...oh well. Anyway for this layering combo I started of with OPI INK. then a layer of Purple-xing then finally two coats of Motley. It is so much more awesome than the pictures look because the glitter form Purple-xing sparkles and you get the color shift form the flakes in Motley.

- Nina Ultra Pro Purple-xing (1 coat)

Today I have for you guys another polish from Bonita called CO2 which is a beautiful metallic teal. The color is crazy beautiful the only problem is that it stains like crazy! Even with a layer of base coat it still stained my nails. Then for something a little more fun I added an accent nail, hope you like it!

I did this mani awhile back I just never got around to posting it....Anyway I got the inspiration for this mani because I saw a photo of a mani that used a hot pink with a pale nude pink and loved the way the two colors looked together. For my mani I freehanded the neon streaks and then used tape for the glitter streak, I was going to do them all pink but then decided it needed something a bit more flashy so I added the glitter streak on one nail.

Red Hot Leopard!

Ahhhhh so I know I haven't posted in like forever!!!! But I hope you all forgive me and that you still love me and my blog after all it is the month of Love!!! Ok so now onto my super awesome mani, I was so in love with they way this came out that I wore it for a whole week!!! So it all started off with the fact that I wanted to do a mani with red and hot pink but didnt know what kind of desing to go with so I went over to WAH Nails to get some inspiration and found a leopard print mani I liked and just recreateed it using pink and red. Its funny because I actually did a red and hot pink leopard print mani last year around v-day too but this one definitely takes the cake!!!

Hello! Today I have some Lady Gaga-esque looking nails. I used a classic red polish and then added some flat mirrored studs. I loved the way this turned out but I only got to wear it for a day because the shiny film on the studs peeled off, which totally sucked. I should have put an extra coat of Seche Vite.

Hello Everyone! For today is have a super awesome sandwich combo. I first did this on my toes for New Years because I wanted something pink and sparkly...any way I loved it so much I just had to do it on my nails. This is rare for me because I don't like to have matching nails and toenails also I usually only paint my toenails like 1-2 times a month.

Leopard Print Stiletto Nails

Hello! First off let me start by wishing you all a Happy New Year and that I hope you all are having a good new year so far! Mines been pretty good, I started off at a new job so I'm adjusting to a new schedule.

Secondly I now have over 100 follower!!! Yay!! So I will be having a giveaway sometime soon to celebrate and to thank you all for following along, so look out for that in the following weeks.

Lastly I filed my nails into a stiletto/almond shape! I had been wanting to do this for a while but had to wait for my nails to be long enough and they finally were so after the new year I did it. I know not everyone is a fan of this style of nail but I just like to mix it up every now and then. This is the second time I have my nails in this shape and I hope I can maintain them for a good time since they are more prone to break in this shape. Anyway no onto the nail art I thought doing a natural looking leopard print would go perfect with this shape of nails so I went with that and it looked fierce!!!

Today I have for you guys a Nabi polish which is in its new bottle shape and new formula but it still smells horrible. This is definitely the worst smelling polish ever and the smell still lingers once it dries. Anyway aside from that it's a very glittery polish that is very festive. It has gold mico glitter, red holo round glitter, and silver holo bar glitter.

Hello and Happy Holidays! Last week me and my friends had our annual Christmas party and this is the mani I came up with to celebrate the event with. I did hollies on two fingers and the other two fingers are supposed to be like wrapping paper and lastly on my thumb a tree. This was my first time using KleanColor's Nail Art polishes Nail to Toe. The formula was good but just like the Kleancolor polishes they take forever to dry!!!! So it took me a while to finish this mani!

Hello everyone! Today I have Snow Angel layered over Emerald City. Snow Angel is by this random to me brand BT that stands for Beauty Treats. This polish was kind of hard to capture and my pictures don't do this polish justice. It's an iridescent glitter polish that flashes gold, green and blue. Hello ladies! So my friends and I love to have themed parties, because it's fun to dress up and it makes for funny pictures! Anyway we hadn't had a themed party in quite some time so last weekend we decided to have a cholo party. This was the second time we had a cholo party and everyone really gets into it even the guys since its easy to dress up for. Hello, Hello Everyone! First off I wanna say how sorry I am for not posting at all last week I was busy/lazy and never got around to posting or preparing post. Secondly this is the current state of my nails about two weeks ago two of my nails broke and I had to file them down to nubs which is also why I didnt want to post any pics of my nails. They are a bit longer now so they don't bother me as much, even though I'm still not used to having short nails.

Ok now onto my current mani.....Saturday night I painted my nails with Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow (which is and extremely dark green) and also wanted to use Rock His World but could decided to think of how to use them together so I just left them also. Then Sunday night I remembered about PAA monday nail art challenge and knew that would help me decided how to used the colors and it did! This weeks challenge was Plaid which works perfectly with these two colors. I got the inspiration for the design form a random nail art wheel I found along time ago on the web, hope you like it!

Hello again! This post is on how I decided to do my nails for Halloween. Since I was going to have my face all done up I really didn't want to have anything to distracting on my nails plus I thought it would clash with my costume if I had on some kind of design. Anyway, I settled on red nails but didn't want them to be bright red nails so I layered two KleanColor polishes and the result was this beautiful blood red looking color. Happy Halloween! Dia de los Muertos Costume!

Hello everyone!!! So I hope you all had a great Halloween weekend. Mine was so much fun I went out everynight! Anyway what I'm most excited to show you is my costume, as I mentioned I was a Dia de los Muertos skeleton and each night I did the designs on my face different. For inspiration I just googled images and took from several ideas and mixed them up to create my own looks.

To create these looks I used Halloween make-up paint and to apply I used a make-up sponge and make-up brushes. For my hair I did to braids and then pinned them up with several bobby pins and then pinned on the flowers. Hope you liked my costume! Happy Halloween!!!

Texas Rangers Mani

Sunday my bff Nora came over to get her nails done. She wanted to do something for the Texas Rangers who are apparently in the World Series and doing pretty good. Me not being into sports I had to google them to find out what the team logo looked liked. I decided to do the T logo as accents and then Nora settled on a triangle french tip for the other nails.

Hello Everyone! Todays post is another Halloween Mani. I wanted to do Vampire nails so this what I came up with. I did lips with fangs as my accent nails and on the rest I sponged on Lubu Heels onto black for a vampy look. Its too bad my nails are so short right now because I think this look would have been even better on long nails. Oh also before I forget to mention it I added a new label "Holiday" so that you can easily find any Holiday themed mani.

Midnight Pumpkin Patch

Hello everyone! So my friend Joslyn came over once again to get her nails done and this time we did some crackle. As I've mentioned before she only wears green nail polish so we did a darker bright green under the crackle which is a lime green shade. She said it looked like a dinosaur egg so hence the title of this post. This is also one of the shades that is up for grabs in my give so if you like it make sure and sign up for it! In other nail related news I broke my thumb nail last night which really hurt it bent back and broke so now I'm going to have file all my nails down because I hate having uneven nail lengths...oh well, now onto Joslyn's nails.

Snake Skin Print with Tulle Tutorial

Hello everyone and welcome to my new followers! A reader Montyono4 left a comment on a previous Snake Skin Mani Post asking if I could give some step by step instructions. So here it is, I hope I do a good job of explaining and that the pics help. If you dont have the stamping plates (like me) this is a good alternative to get a snake skin print on your nails.

This is what the finished nail looks like.

What I used:

- LA Colors Circuit (base 2 coats)

- KleanColor Metallic Mango

- Sally Hansen Ru-by or Not to Be

- Tulle

- Sponge

- OPI top coat

Here is a pic of the tulle and sponge I used. The tulle needs to be cut into a small square about 2 in x 2in.

Next paint your nails with the base color of your choice, here I'm using black also remember this is the color that the lines will be so it needs to contrast the other colors you choose.

Once your base is dry you can now start with the sponging. Wrap the tulle around your finger like so holding down the sides with your other fingers

Then twist down the remaining tulle thats above your finger and hold it down with your other fingers It should look something like this....The important thing with this step is making sure the tulle is tight up against the surface of your nail.

Next comes the sponging. Drop a small amount onto a pecie of paper or foil and dab it onto your sponge then dab it onto the entire surface of the nail you might have to do this a couple of times to get it opaque.

Repeat the previous step with your second or third color but this time only on certain spot of the nail instead of the entire nail to give it more depth. Note you might also have to go back over the nail with some of the fist color if you sponge on to much of the second or third color, so just keep sponging on the polishes till you get a finish you like really.

Once your done sponge unravel the tulle and pull it off across the nail from one side to the next.

Your nail should look some thing like this...

Lastly just clean up and put some top coat on and your done!

Hope I was thorough enough with my explanation and that the pics were also helpful. The trickiest part of doing this mani is just holding down the tulle tightly against your nail. Also I recommend using a dry fast top coat so you can move onto doing the next nail without having to worry about smudging it.

I think it came out pretty good although the proportions on the one on my right came out a bit big.

Army Nails Sergeant First Class

Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a good weekend. It was my nephew Manny's birthday today and his party was Soldier themed, so of course I had to something with my nails in that theme. I wanted to use one of my new polishes Military Green by KleanColor so I settled on the Army Ranking badges since they have a green background. I ended up with the Rank of Sergeant First Class, I wanted to do First Sergeant but it didn't end up fitting on my nail. Military Green is a beautiful hunter green color that is perfect for Fall. I also liked this polish because you can clearly tell its green even though it's dark.

Hello eveyone and I hope you're having a good friday! Today is Mexico's Independence day and although I'm not Mexican I am Mexican-American so it's part of my heritage and culture also living in a border city we tend to celebrate or observe both American and Mexican holidays. So I wanted to do some kind of festive nail design, I settled on a Nopal which is on the Mexican flag and very abundant all over Mexico and South Texas. I really love the way this mani turned out and it also reminds me of my Grandma because when I was little she used to have a Nopal in the backyard and I would help her cut of the pads and prepare a meal with them. 2012 Cracked Polishes

Today I have for you guys some more 2012 Cherimoya Crackles! There are a few things to note when dealing with these crackles. They dry/crackle a bit slow so don't worry if you don't see it crackle right away. They crack best in one thick coat but not too thick because then you wont get as many cracks (as you can not on some of my nails). Your base polish does have to be dry it can't be tacky. These crackles work well over top coat as well as matte top coat. Hope this helps! Now on to the pictures!

It was first inspired by the song which has a line "Wrapped in pink and dotted with hearts" so I knew I was going to do a pink background with some hearts, then I saw my undies that are light pink with white hearts that are alternating in the pattern seen on my nails so thats how this mani came to be.

The name Mermaid suites this polish perfectly it's a pale minty green color with green shimmer and in some lights and angles an auburn shimmer. It's kind of hard to see the simmer in the photos but in person it's definitely there. The only down side to this polish is that its super sheer so it required a lot of coats.

This weeks monday nail art challenge on Polish-aholics Anonymous was Galaxy themed. I was excited to try this out cuz I've seen some pics of other peoples nails and they look so pretty. So I googled some tutorials and then some images of galaxies and gave it shot. I'm not a 100% satisfied with it, mainly because I think my "stars" are to big and that there are to many (I did less dots on my left had).

Ahhh so my blog anniversary came and went on Aug 26th without me noticing because I thought I started my blog late Sept not late Aug. Huge fail on my part because I wanted to do a giveaway to thank all my followers who have been reading my blog for the last year. I still plan on doing a giveaway it will just be a bit later since I need time to gather some gifts, so stay tuned in for that! Anyway, I just want to say thank you to those of you who follow my blog. I know when I started my blog it was just me and a few of my friends following via my personal facebook and then slowly I started to gain followers from all over the place. Double Lightning Bolt

Hello everyone! Today's post features another attempt at a tape mani. This time I did the actual double lightning bolt and then just like Jane I also did a matte version. I think it came out pretty good, although I think I need some work on the placement of the tape but other than that I really like the way it came out.

Flower Nail Fail...

Hello eveyone! As the title suggest I wasn't too happy with the way this mani turned out. I wouldn't say its a complete fail but I wasn't really diggin' it. The design was inspired by a Dia de los Muertos skull my bff Mk got me, which I absolutely love! I think it would have been better if I actually took my time, because it's kind of sloppy and I also wasn't crazy about the placement of the design on my nails.

My 1st Franken!

Hello everyone and welcome to the new followers I've gotten in the past week or so. Today's post features my very first try at frankening a nail polish. It's not bad for my first try but I'm not 100% happy with it. Its about a shade darker and in person the holographic glitter is more apparent, although not as much as I'd like. Listed below are all the ingredients I used to make the polish. Also excuse the color of my skin in this first pic I had to edit the color of the polish which made my skin look yellow.

What I used:

- OPI Top Coat

- KleanColor Neon Aqua

- KleanColor Blue Eyed Girl

- Poly*Flake Aqua Holographic glitter

So what do you guys think? Any suggestions on what I should name it?

Lightning Bolt Mani

Hello everyone! Todays post features my attempt at Jane's ever popular lightning bolt manis. My take was a little different as I decided to use only two colors instead of three, so I taped off the top and bottom part of my nail to create the lightning bolt shape. I also found using a coat of Seche Vite over my base coat helps the tape remove a lot easier since the surface is smoother.

What I used:

- China Glaze Electric Pineapple

Mk's Geometric 80s Nails

Hey everybody! Wednesday my friend Mk came over to get her nails did (lol) and catch up since she had been gone all summer. Anyway she wanted something geometric with bold colors, so we came up with this design, which is very 80s. I taped off the triangular areas using tape then with my stripers outlined them.

Electric Pineapple goes Retro

Hey Everybody! Todays post features Electric Pineapple by China Glaze. I had been wanting this polish but never went out and got it, then a couple weeks ago I went to my local Sallys and it was on clearance for $1.99!! Needless to say I snatched it up, and I'm so I happy I finally got it! Anyway I wore it on its own for like a day then I decided to add some red to it and I think it has a retro look to it.

Cracked Nail Polish

Hello! This past weekend I went to this little novelty shop because I knew they sold KleanColor polishes there and I had been wanting some of the "chunky holo" polishes, sadly they didnt have any of those so instead I got Blue Eyed Girl and Neon Agua (which I've included the stock photos of via KleanColor). The best part however was that I found this random line of Crackle nail polishes by this brand Cherimoya 2012. Now I'm not really into the whole cracked nail polish look but they were only $1.99 so I thought why not and got two of the four colors they had a pink and purple.

What I used:
- Sephora by OPI Who Let the Dorks Out? (3 coats)
- Cherimoya 2012 Cracked Nail Polish in Trinity
- Seche Vite top coat (over WLTDO? then again over Trinity)

Now for the 2nd cracked nail polish I got....

What I Used:

- Pure Ice Tease (3 coats)

- Cherimoya 2012 Cracked Nail Polish in Prayer

- Seche Vite top coat (over Tease then again over Prayer)

Blu Blaze (Not a Neon)

Hey everybody! I purchased this polish because I decided I needed more blue cream polishes and when I saw this polish on sale at Sallys I thought a blue neon cream would be great for my collection. Sadly it is not the pretty neon blue that you see in the bottle, its a lot darker and it doesn't have a cream finish to it, it dries dull and flat so it definitely needs a top coat. Now don't get me wrong the color is actually really pretty, it was just a bit of a let down when I was expecting something else. The color is also a bit darker in real life my camera just couldn't quiet get it right, it's more along the lines of the 2nd photo.

What I used:

- Nina Ultra Pro Blu Blaze (3 coats)

- Out The Door top coat

Purple Pizzazz Frost

Hey everybody! Hope you're having a swell day. Todays post features Purple Pizzazz Frost (on its own) which I used in my Mom's B-day mani. In my moms mani it looks very blue but as you can see it is more of a purple base with blue simmer to it. Also this was before I filed my nails down they were super long! I have one more entry to post with my long nails then it will be back to my shorter filed down nails again.

Yodel with Gold Glitter

Building on yesterdays post and how I mentioned Yodel would look good with gold I decided to add my favorite gold glitter top coat. I hadn't used this top coat in a while but I'm already down to half a bottle and need to get another one soon which is kind of a bummer seeing how Sephora went up on the price of their polish to $9.50. Anyway I also did a matte version that I think I like more.

Good Afternoon everyone! It was my nephews baptism this afternoon and I'm just getting to my post. For the baptism I decided to wear this polish because it would look good with the gold jewelry I was planning on wearing. I featured a pic of my gold bangles because I love them. I had been wanting some for a while and then for my birthday earlier this year my aunt got them for me and my mom got me another set in white gold, they are so ghetto fab and blingy! Anyway back to the nails I've featured this color on my blog before here but it was layered with a glitter so now here it is on its own.

Moms Birthday Mani!

So as the title suggest it's my moms birthday today so yesterday I did her nails so she could have a new mani for her bday! My mom is such a good sport she always just lets me do whatever I want with her nails. I told her she was so hip for letting me do her nails with such bold colors! LOL

What I used:

- Orly Top2Bottom as top coat (over sponged polish)

- China Glaze Fairy Dust

- Seche Vite top coat (over ChG Fairy Dust)

- Sponge

- Foil (to blot excess polish)

- China Glaze Peppermint Cuticle Oil

Something to note is that Purple Pizzazz Frost is actually more purple based but my camera wouldn't capture the color right and then I tried to edit the color but still I couldn't get it quiet right. Hopefully I'll have pics of this polish on its own and be able to take photos in natural light to get the color accurate.
