Cholo Party & Matching Nails

Hello ladies! So my friends and I love to have themed parties, because it's fun to dress up and it makes for funny pictures! Anyway we hadn't had a themed party in quite some time so last weekend we decided to have a cholo party. This was the second time we had a cholo party and everyone really gets into it even the guys since its easy to dress up for. To complete my chola look I had to have my nails done to match the theme as well. So I came up with a blinged out and kind of 90s looking design.

Happy Halloween! Dia de los Muertos Costume!

Hello everyone!!! So I hope you all had a great Halloween weekend. Mine was so much fun I went out everynight! Anyway what I'm most excited to show you is my costume, as I mentioned I was a Dia de los Muertos skeleton and each night I did the designs on my face different. For inspiration I just googled images and took from several ideas and mixed them up to create my own looks.

To create these looks I used Halloween make-up paint and to apply I used a make-up sponge and make-up brushes. For my hair I did to braids and then pinned them up with several bobby pins and then pinned  on the flowers. Hope you liked my costume! Happy Halloween!!!

Blogoversery!

Ahhh so my blog anniversary came and went on Aug 26th without me noticing because I thought I started my blog late Sept not late Aug. Huge fail on my part because I wanted to do a giveaway to thank all my followers who have been reading my blog for the last year. I still plan on doing a giveaway it will just be a bit later since I need time to gather some gifts, so stay tuned in for that! Anyway, I just want to say thank you to those of you who follow my blog. I know when I started my blog it was just me and a few of my friends following via my personal facebook and then slowly I started to gain followers from all over the place. I can't say it enough really thank you for taking time and seeing what I have to post and for the comments!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Hello everyone! I'm in such a good mood today so I thought I'd do another post on some of my favorite things!

- Chuck Palahniuk is one of my fav authors, Invisible Monsters is probably my favorite of his books so far. If you haven't read any of his books you should!

- My favorite red lipstick is Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. Its the perfect red and since its matte it last forever and isn't drying.

- Boys with tattoos!!!! The more the merrier but not those douchey tattoos like tribal arm bands (no offensive if you have one of those but thats not my style). lol

- One of my favorite pairs of shoes are my Ferragamo boots, becuase they go with so much they're really versatile and they were a steal because I got them on ebay!

- Calvin Klien underwear, I know this is kind of random but their bras and panties are great! I know some people are all about Victoria Secret but not me, their bras run small and the panties don't have a good fit. So if your looking for some new undergarments you should definitely check out Calvin Klien.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Let the good times roll! So last year I went to Mardi Gras and I really wish I was there now because I had such a fun time with my bff Airica. So since I can't be there this year I decided to do a Mardi Gras mani, its nothing special just a simple design using the three traditional colors. I did get some shrinkage due to all the coats I did for this mani so that why you can see the tips of my nails.

Skull Valentine's

My mom is such a sweetheart, she got me a surprise Valentine's Day gift! She knows how much I love skull, so while out at a local market she found these skull earrings and necklace and picked them up for me as a V-Day gift. I absolutely loved the skulls but didn't really like the style of the jewelry so I just took them apart and redid them to suit my taste.

Who needs a boyfriend to buy me jewelry when I have a sweet mom like mine! Another really cute thing my mom did/does all the time when she gets me a holiday card she always signs it with love from her and my dad but then she'll also always write down all my cats names too! When I was away at college she would send me two cards one from my family and one from the cats, I always liked that she did that it was just so cute and heartwarming especially since she knows I love my cats so much!

This is dedicated to the one I love: Christine

You know how sometimes you hear a song and it just takes you back to a certain time in your life and brings back memories of certain people, well all these songs remind me of my dear friend Christine and our time spent away at college. Today one of these songs came on and then it got me thinking of all the great times spent in our dorm room freshmen year at UT, as most of these songs pertain to memories from that yr. Anyway on to the songs!


- Cyclone by Baby Bash: This song reminds me of Christine not some much because we would listne to it all the time but one time we were on our way to a party with another bff Nora and one of had the song in our head and we said we wanted to hear the song so that we could move our body like a cyclone and christine said she didnt need to hear the song to move her body like a cyclone because she always moves her body like a cyclone! This is especially funny because if you know Christine you know she doesnt dance! LOL


- Time after Time by Cyndi Lauper: From all the times we would watch Romy & Michele's High School Reunion.



- Una Palabra by Carlos Varela: Just a song we both really liked and would listen to a lot.

- Fergalicious by Fergie: This was Christine's jam, she would wanna hear it all the time and would sing along to it.



- From A Shell by Lisa Germano: Another song we really like and would listen to a lot, Christine also introduced me to this song.


- Money Maker by Ludacris: We love Ludacris and this is one of our faves by him! We even lip-synced this song at a party! LOL



- Un Ano De Amor by Luz Casal: A song we both really liked and would listen to a lot.

- Come on Petunia by The Blow: This song out of all these songs is "our" song. We would listen to this over and over to the point were we could sing-along perfectly to it!


So yeah its a random mix of songs but they all bring back good memories and are all good tunes!

These are a few of my favorite things....

So I feel like I've been doing only nail polish post so I thought I'd post something a little different today! A post of some of my favorite things in no particular order!

- Nail Polish (obviously) The other day I took out all the nail polish from my drawer and I have 127!

- My MacBook Pro

- My Music....I seriously always have music playing, I like to jam out lol!

- Eskimo Kisses!

- My Cats Bluebell & Walter! But more specifically when I walk out the door and Walter is waiting outside the front door or when Bluebell is sleeping on the hood of our cars.

- Skulls & Skeletons...My favorite type are Dia de los Muertos style because they are so colorful!

- Chocolate covered strawberries! Yummm!

- All my girlfriends! They are the best girls to laugh, gossip, talk shit, cry, dance, shop, and do everything else with! I have the best memories with theses girls! Oh and also Anton because he's just like one of my girlfriends I tell him everything and I've know him just as long!

Evil Eye & New Years!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a safe and fun filled night celebrating the new year! This is the mani I'm currently sporting for the new year, its the evil eye which is supposed to ward of any jealously or negative energy people may have for you. I thought this was a fitting mani to do as I wanted to start the new year with positivity and well wishes.

What Means The World To Me!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here's a small list of things I'm especially thankful for as there a lot of things and people I am thankful for:

- My parents they are super supportive of me, understanding, and never overbearing! I got so lucky to have such awesome parents!

- Of course the rest of my family! Grandparents, Brother, Sister-in-law, Nephews and Nieces , Uncles & Aunts, Cousins! So much Love in my family!

- All my friends that I have know for years and years even though some of us have moved away we have still kept our friendships alive!

- All my cats but especially Bluebell and Walter!

- In door plumbing and central air (really any modern day technology/convenience) because I know there's is so many people in this world who still don't have these things.

- Lastly for all the delicious food I'm going to eat today, for always having food, and for not knowing what real hunger feels like.

Today I thought I'd share a poem I wrote back in summer of '08. I don't consider myself much of a writer well at least not in that context. I don't know the proper styles of writing poems or anything I just wrote about things I was feeling also English was my worst subject. Anyway hope you like it!

Happy Halloween!

My Second attempt at doing a snake skin print but this time on my nails. It was a bit tricky keeping the tulle tight around my nail to get the print but I think I managed.

For my crown I bought toy snakes and painted them green and hot-glued them to a toy crown and lastly I glued and wrapped two lager snakes to small barrettes to help hold up my crown.

My Sweetness...

Woooo I'm super excited! Going to see the Toadies and Girl in A Coma today with my bestie Mk!

This is my favorite Toadies song its soo good! Love the Toadies they are a really good band but I think they're an underrated band and people only know the song Possum Kingdom but they have other really good songs like My Sweetness.

Also on a side note I broke one of my OPI nail polishes Crimson Carol last night. Which totally sucked because it broke in my nail polish drawer all over other polishes. Lesson learned do not throw my nail polishes into drawer because they will shatter and break! :( Perfectly good polish ruined!

Booo to October...

Well not really but it hasn't been as great of a month as I was hoping for. I was suppose to go to Austin this past weekend but wasn't able to make it because I got sick for the second time this month. Boo to my sinuses! It is shaping up though, thursday night is the Toadies concert which I'm super excited about! The only problem is that I have no date. My friend Jason was going to join me but he couldn't get the night off from work so as of now I'm going stag. I hope I find someone to join me although it wouldn't be the first time I go to a concert/show by myself.

I also need to get on it with getting my costume together!

Halloween Costume

So I settled on being Medusa for Halloween and today I went thrift store shopping with my friend Krystavel to find a dress I could alter into my costume. I had decided I wanted a green velvet dress and I got super lucky because thats exactly what I found! It's a dark green tank dress that has no shape but it's ok because I'm going to take it in and alter it. Now I just need to get some snakes for my hair and work on some make-up looks!

Ahhhhh!

I'm so excited!!!!! I just found out that the Toadies are playing a show in the area that I live in! I've been wanting to see them for a while now and I missed them the last few times they played in Austin when I lived there. The tickets are pretty cheap too only $20! Now all I have to do is find someone to go with me.

Who wants to be my date? ;)

Ahhh so many things I want to do in October!

Which reminds me I also need to decide what I wanna be for Halloween. I've narrowed it down to three options:
-Peacock
-Ursula
-Medusa

I usually make my costumes or get them made so i just need to go fabric shopping and see what I find.

Karaoke

So I've really gotten into karaoke this past year and have been going a lot to this bar where I live that does it every Wednesday and Friday night. I'm really surprised I've gotten into it so much especially because I don't have the greatest voice. I actually kind of suck at singing but I'm definitely not the worst that goes up to sing and its all in good fun anyway. I also usually sing with a partner so it kind of drowns out my bad voice. Anyways some of our favorite songs to sing are:

DIY

I've been working on quite a few projects this past month and yet to completely finish any of them. I really need to get on this and finish them because every time I start a new project my room just becomes more of a mess and right now it's really bad!

The first project I started on was making some earrings. I finished one pair but have yet to finish the other pair.

Second project was painting and decorating some paper mache boxes I have for some of my jewelry and other random things.

Lastly I started on some glitter artwork of a skull image but still need to finish it and then make one for my nephew as I kind of got him into liking skulls. Every time he comes into my room he likes to point out all the skulls I have in my room it's super cute!

So as soon as I finish these projects of mine I'll make a post about them with pics, but if your in the mode for some diy projects I like going to this site P.S. I Made This for some inspiration.
